FAQ
If you’re coming to our festival, you’re curious! Here’s where we anticipate some of your burning questions, to help you plan ahead for the best experience possible.
All of the festival’s daytime events will take place in or around Girard Park and on the grounds of the Hilliard Art Museum adjacent to the park. The park is in the center of Lafayette and borders the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, whose picturesque red-brick, oak-scattered campus is recognizable. If you’re using a Maps app or GPS, simply type in: 500 Girard Park Ave. Lafayette, LA 70503.
There is parking in the areas around Girard Park.
Firstly, be sure you bring your dancing shoes – you won’t be able to help yourself, we promise. You’d be smart to bring a brimmed hat and sunscreen along; even though the park is well-shaded, the Louisiana sun can be strong. Be sure to bring your wallet so you can buy food and drink at the Bayou Food Fest, and a souvenir (or three) at the Louisiana Crafts Fair.
You’re welcome to bring chairs and blankets for seating and lounging; we just ask that you leave plenty of room near the stage for the dancefloor!
We ask that you leave your coolers at home and buy your drinks (non-alcoholic or spirited) from our festival – this is how you can support our festival and help keep it free for everyone!
Our beverage vendors take ONLY a credit/debit card for payment, but all other vendors accept cash or card. We’ve got ATMs onsite, too, in case you need cash for anything – see our festival map for details!
We have clean, portable restrooms set up throughout the festival grounds.
Festival grounds have so many variables – people, smells, loud noises – that we kindly ask that you leave your pets at home unless they are registered service animals. Trust us, it’ll make your return home that much sweeter!
Our festival is absolutely friendly for family members of all ages! Most of our programming happens during the day, which is great for all sleep schedules. (Nobody says you can’t catch a nap in the green grass under the old oak tree.) Louisiana French culture has no age limits.
We proudly present all of our programming – music and otherwise – for free to all attendees! No registration or reservations necessary. Purchasing food, drink, and souvenirs at the festival help us keep it free for all.
While we’re pretty lucky to have beautiful South Louisiana autumn weather each year for the festival there’s always a slim chance it could rain on us. We’ve got contingency plans in place, so no need to worry. We recommend following us on social media for updates related to weather.
Girard Park features accessible entrances, handicapped parking stalls, and wheelchair-accessible restrooms. Paved, gentle (under 3% grade) walking and running trails encircle the grounds and the duck pond, making them easily navigable with wheelchairs and mobility aids.
Note that the majority of the park is natural green space, and terrain quality changes according to weather conditions and high-traffic wear.

Thank you so much for asking! It takes a grand community to keep our festival alive and well, and your support from afar counts just as much as showing up in person at Scène Mon Héritage with your dancing boots on!
You can be a Festival Friend from afar or nearby by giving a one-time donation or by continuing to give monthly. Click on the button below to see your options and show your love to our vibrant cause.
Thanks to our local NPR station KRVS you can listen to a live stream of our festival performances.
